Talks between council and Agency One bands are progressing in a positive direction.

At last night's council meeting, Mayor June Caul said the First Nations Advisory Committee has had productive meetings with Agency One chiefs and continue to focus on the restoration and revitalization of Point Park.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday, officers from the Rainy River District detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of George Road.

As a result of the collision investigation a young driver aged 17 was charged criminally with Operate Conveyance with 80 or more milligrams of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

OTTAWA—An international review of Canada's economic immigration system suggests the country is doing well when it comes to how it selects and welcomes foreign workers.

But the report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development suggests that some tweaks would be helpful to ensure the needs of the economy are actually being met.

MONTREAL—Teens and young adults who use electronic cigarettes are significantly more likely to use cannabis as well, according to a new study co-authored by a Canadian researcher.

Pediatrician Nicholas Chadi's analysis of previous research, published in JAMA Pediatrics, found that the likelihood of marijuana use was three to four times higher among youth who vaped.

Military bans discriminatory, sexual tattoos on personnel

OTTAWA—Canadian military members are being warned against getting certain tattoos, including those that could be deemed discriminatory or sexually explicit.

The warning is contained in a new order today that offers the most specific guidance yet around what tattoos are considered acceptable.

Drury hits first career grand slam

TORONTO—As soon as Brandon Drury's bat connected with the ball he knew he'd hit the first grand slam of his career.

Drury's moon shot to deep left field scored half of the runs in an eight-run fourth inning that helped the Blue Jays cruise past the visiting Texas Rangers 19-4 last night.

It was Drury's second at-bat of the inning as Toronto worked through its entire lineup.
