Tbaytel donates to parade
Tbaytel has proven it’s indeed a “Good Neighbour” this holiday season by donating $1,000 to the “Community Christmas Parade,” which is set to go this Saturday.
Parade co-ordinator Scott Krienke-Turvey of Ink Spotz Apparel+ said he had applied to the Tbaytel for Good Community Fund’s Good Neighbour grant in hopes to get some extra dollars to help out.
Driver charged after accident
The Rainy River District OPP was notified of a single motor-vehicle collision on Highway 71 in Chapple Township on Saturday around 8 a.m.
A 23-year-old Northwest Angle First Nation woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Fort Frances for breath tests.
She was charged with having a blood alcohol level over 80 mg and driving while suspended.
Trio hurt in train collision
At 7:44 a.m. today, the Rainy River District OPP responded to the report of a train/motor vehicle collision on Lauzon Road in the Township of Dawson.
A 2016 Dodge Caravan collided with a Canadian National Railway freight train.
As a result, three occupants of the van were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The train crew suffered no injuries.
Muskies sweep
The Sioux Lookout Warriors were viewed as an up-and-coming team in the NorWOSSA girls’ hockey during the pre-season.
It seems as though they still have a way to go before meeting those expectations.
The three-time defending league champion Muskies made it business as usual against the host Warriors late last week—cruising to a two-game sweep to kick off the regular season.
Bonot rink wins crown
Small town teamed up with big city and went on to rule the country.

Stratton native Trevor Bonot skipped his Northern Ontario rink to the 2017 Canadian mixed curling championship in Yarmouth, N.S. with a 5-2 win over Manitoba in Saturday’ final.

Peyton Avis of the Fort Frances Bantam ‘AA’ Canadians fired away against International Falls Broncos’ goalie Mitchell Nemec during the first period of the gold-medal final in the Canadians’ home tournament yesterday at the Ice For Kids Arena. The Broncos took the title with a 5-3 victory as Fort Frances settled for silver.

Sabra recalls hummus amid listeria contamination fears
WASHINGTON — Some varieties of Sabra hummus are being recalled amid concerns over possible listeria contamination.
The Food and Drug Administration says the voluntary recall announced by Sabra Dipping Company includes hummus products with a “Best Before” date of Jan. 23, 2017, or earlier. The products were sent to retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
