Seniors’ housing focus of meeting
Additional senior living accommodations for Fort Frances and the surrounding area is the subject of a public meeting to be held here next Thursday (Oct. 27).
The meeting will start at 5 p.m. at the Sister Kennedy Centre.

Muskie duo nab top 10s
As has been the case all season, the newest runners made the biggest noise for the Muskies.
The Grade 9 duo of Liam George and Tori Toriseva both cracked the top 10 in their respective divisions at the NWOSSAA cross-country running championships yesterday in Thunder Bay.
George was fourth out of 27 finishers in the Midget boys’ division in a time of 15:43.2.
RRCC wins crucial second-place battle
In the last home game of the season, and the final one for its four veteran players, the Rainy River Community College Voyageurs gave their fans a memory to cherish Tuesday night.
RRCC shook off a mid-match lull to fight back and eventually overcome the visiting Itasca Vikings (Grand Rapids) by a 3-1 count to break a second-place tie in the MCAC Northern Division standings.
Muskie court teams earn split in Dryden
The Muskie court teams earned a split of their four matches against the host Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action yesterday.
In senior girls’ basketball, Fort High (5-1) moved into sole possession of first place with a 39-27 victory over Dryden (4-2).
Miners double Lakers
The English River Miners were akin to the free space on the Fort Frances Lakers’ Bingo card the past two seasons.
But Tuesday night, the Miners reached into the ball bin and pulled one out under the ‘N’—as in “no longer.”
English River unleashed 20 shots in a three-goal second period en route to a 6-3 victory at the Cochenour Arena.

Fort High teacher Robert Guertin helped students from Tracy Tucker’s Early Years class at J.W. Walker assemble one of the two “buddy benches” made by the manufacturing class. The youngsters were excited to take a turn using the tools to put together the benches that will be installed on their playground.
