Ontario limits gatherings provincewide as cases top 400 for 2nd straight day

TORONTO - Ontario took a step back in its COVID-19 recovery on Saturday as Premier Doug Ford reimposed restrictions on social gatherings across the province in a bid to curb what he described as an “alarming growth” in new cases.

Northwestern Health Unit has received a report of a new positive COVID-19 test result in the Dryden / Red Lake area. According to the provincial school portal, the case has been confirmed as a student in the Golden Learning Centre, in Balmertown. Follow up with the person involved and their contacts has started according to NWHU protocol.

Searchers find body of one of two teens missing after boat capsized off P.E.I.

ALBERTON, P.E.I. - An underwater search team has found the body of one of two 17-year-old boys who went missing when their small boat capsized off Prince Edward Island last week.

The searchers recovered the body of Ethan Reilly at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, RCMP spokesman Sgt. Neil Logan said, but that of Alex Hutchinson is still missing.

Police arrest man allegedly using drone to drop contraband at Ontario jail

NAPANEE, Ont. - A 20-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly trying to smuggle contraband into an eastern Ontario jail.

Provincial police say it allegedly happened Thursday morning near the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee, Ont.

OPP say they got involved after receiving reports of a suspicious man on private property near the correctional facility.

- Ontario: 46,849 confirmed (including 2,827 deaths, 40,968 resolved)

Airbnb suspends more than 40 listings across Ontario for hosting parties

Airbnb says it has suspended more than 40 listings across Ontario as part of its effort to crack down on party houses.

The short-term rental website says the suspensions are part of its 2019 policy change to ban parties at properties.
