Pride deferred by Emo council
A resolution to support a proclamation from Borderland Pride was defeated 3-2 in last night's Emo town council meeting.
The resolution would have adopted a pre-worded resolution, provided by Borderland Pride, which would have proclaimed June “Pride Month” and called for a rainbow flag to be displayed for a week of the Township's choosing.

Town's 2020 budget brings tax increase
The town budget for 2020 is in the books.
At Monday night's town council meeting, Town of Fort Frances treasurer Dawn Galusha presented the finalized 2020 Budget, which sees a residential tax increase of 3.24 percent and a number of challenges -including COVID-19- that we might not see the full impact of until years down the road.
Border suspends remote crossings
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has closed a path, which allowed small vessels to cross the border in the river. Yesterday, the CBSA announced the temporary suspension of service at certain small vessel reporting sites, small airports of entry, ferry terminals and to the Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) program.
Times publisher Inducted into industry Hall of Fame
The Ontario Community Newspaper Association (OCNA) has announced its first inductee into its Hall of Fame - Fort Frances Times' own Jim Cumming.
Jim was born with ink flowing through his veins. His father, grandfather, grandmother and several aunts and uncles all worked in the newspaper industry, from Ontario through to Saskatchewan.
Handgun seized in warrant search
