Man busted for drunk driving
On Sunday at approximately 2:25 a.m., a member of the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on King's Highway in Fort Frances.
The officer spoke with the driver, whom he determined was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment, where he underwent more tests.
Lightning sparks more fires
It was another busy day for lightning fire starts as the Northwest Region recorded 16 new fires by the early yesterday evening.
Resources are strained as the fire load has increased to 111 active fires. Twenty-eight of those fires are “not under control," 10 are "being held," 10 are "under control," and 63 are "being observed.”

The zoo's Native Bat Conservation Program says the northern myotis is one of four endangered bat species in Ontario.
