Lakers' make-up date set
The SIJHL yesterday announced a make-up date for the game between the Fort Frances Lakers and English River Miners that was postponed back on Dec. 19.
This contest now will be held Wednesday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
The cause for the original postponement was a breakdown of the Miners' bus that prevented them from travelling here in time for the game.
Colourful design
Tessa Miner arranged pieces of coloured glass to design a suncatcher during a workshop with instructor Cher Pruys yesterday evening at From the Grind Up here. Pruys later will take the glass and fire it in a kiln, making a fused glass suncatcher for Miner to keep.
New fossil species of worm unearthed
TORONTO—A new fossil species of bristle worm has been found at the 508-million-year-old Marble Canyon site in B.C.'s Kootenay National Park.
The worm, found by researchers from the Royal Ontario Museum and the University of Toronto, is called Kootenayscolex barbarensis.

The video, which shows the constable talking to a motorist, captured a cougar sneaking by a couple of metres away—in front of a grocery store.

Tsunami fears send people scrambling
VANCOUVER—A tsunami warning issued for coastal British Columbia was cancelled this morning after people living along parts of the province's coast evacuated to higher ground when a powerful earthquake struck off Alaska.
