School merger completion delayed

The completion date for the merger of St. Michael's and St. Francis schools here is being delayed for one year.

The merger into a single JK-Grade 8 school—to be located at the current site of St. Francis—originally was planned to open for the 2018-19 school.

Proposed changes on transporting livestock outlined to beef farmers

New transportation regulations for animal handling could be coming along soon.

Jason Reid, a Beef Farmers of Ontario board member, outlined the major points of these proposed changes during the annual meeting of the Rainy River Cattlemen's Association last Thursday evening at Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton.

Parting the Red Sea worked so well once for the Armstrong Crushers, they decided to play Moses twice.

Parker Sisco and Landen Hanson scored almost carbon-copy goals 1:40 apart late in the third period to carry the Crushers past the red-clad Fine Foods Fury 5-4 in the final of the Emo-Devlin-Barwick Minor Hockey Association's Novice tournament Sunday at the Emo-La Vallee Arena.

“Mighty Mustangs” wrestling is back at it for a new season in International Falls.

Our youth wrestling has been around for about eight years. After a few years of losing kids, due to the Boise/Cascade paper mill cutting 300 jobs, our program is back on track.

We have about 25 wrestlers this season, picking up three more from Fort Frances.

MINNEAPOLIS — The defence contractor Textron is buying the snowmobile maker Arctic Cat in a deal valued at about $247 million.

Textron said Wednesday that it will pay $18.50 per Arctic Cat share, a 41 per cent premium to its Tuesday closing price. The transaction also includes debt, though no exact figure was provided.
