With the theme that “hockey players can sing too,” the Robert Moore School Boys Choir enthusiastically displayed their patriotism in the Canada Day parade on Friday. The parade, which started at the Sorting Gap Marina and ended at the Legion, was a big hit—just like the rest of the July 1st activities.
Scholten seeks to shake up insurance industry
Joshua Scholten, a recent graduate of the actuarial science program at Ball State University in Muncie, IN, will soon be putting his skills to the test when he competes in the “Hannover Re Entrepreneurial Competition” over the course of the next six months.
Art project

Lyla Moen, left, along with Kodi Jo Galbraith and art therapist Lindsay Hamilton, showed off the Community Living art project, which features contributions made by people of all ages and abilities. The project, which is titled, “We are more alike than different,” will be displayed in the Community Living window once it is completed, and was funded by Canadian Heritage.
Camp to focus on social innovation
A week-long summer camp for high school students will focus on social innovation and entrepreneurship.
Dubbed the “Sprout Ideas Camp,” it is set to run July 25-29 at Fort Frances High School.

‘Fun in the Sun’ draws crowd

Practice makes perfect

Participants in this year’s “Gleek Week,” a local musical theatre camp run by Renée Martin-Brown, rehearsed one of their numbers yesterday at the Emo Legion. The group will move rehearsals to the Townshend Theatre stage here tomorrow, where they’ll present their final performance, called “Stay Tuned,” to the public this Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Contestants sought for ‘Quest’
Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is looking for contestants for the ever-popular “Quest for the Best” singing competition, which will once again be held in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, on July 22.
But first, interested contestants need to sign up before this Friday’s deadline.
