(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) - The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sioux Lookout Fire Department, and Sioux Lookout Emergency Medical Services responded to an early morning fire that has left one individual deceased.

TORONTO - Canada's workforce has tilted in favour of men during COVID-19 as the pandemic has pressured women's dual roles as mother and employee, says a new Royal Bank report.

More than 20,000 women left the workforce between February and October while about triple the number of men joined it, said the study released Thursday.

DALLAS - United Airlines warned Thursday that bookings have slowed and cancellations have increased as the number of coronavirus infections spikes across the country.

Southwest Airlines has also seen more cancellations, and the carrier's CEO said that travel demand will be remain weak in the first quarter.

'The Nutcracker' to play more than 50 cinemas

TORONTO - With dreams of the sugar plum fairies almost dashed this year, the National Ballet of Canada has come up with a different way for Canadians to enjoy the tradition of “The Nutcracker.”

The ballet company says it's struck a partnership with movie theatre chain Cineplex to screen the perennial favourite at more than 50 cinemas across the country.

Toronto school staff member dies of COVID

TORONTO - An education worker at a Toronto school has died from COVID-19.

The child and youth worker was employed with the Toronto Catholic District School Board at the St. Francis De Sales School, officials said.

Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce offered his condolences Wednesday to the school community.

Ontario reports 1,210 new cases today, 28 deaths

TORONTO - Ontario is reporting 1,210 new cases of COVID-19 today, and 28 new deaths due to the virus.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 361cases are in Peel Region, 346 are in Toronto, and 143 are in York Region.

In the province's long-term care homes, 619 residents currently have COVID-19 and 15 new deaths have been reported today.
