In conjunction with Rainy River Rec Centre, the town will be playing host to the Trail of Terror, a haunted walk that is being held for the next two Saturdays in order to provide safe and spooky fun for those with a stout constitution (and their families).
Local OPP investigating suspicious camper fire
(UNORGANIZED TOWNSHIP) - On Friday October 9, 2020 at approximately 1:16 p.m. members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a camper trailer that had been burned to the ground. The camper trailer was located on Charles Road adjacent to Cedar Narrows Road, which is off Hwy 502, in Unorganized Township.

Furry friends to find homes in Fort Frances
Paws and Claws, a non-profit charity based in International Falls, Minnesota, is expanding into Fort Frances.
Before the borders closed, animals found on the Canadian side were transported to International Falls where they received treatment and foster families, until they got adopted.

The Dance Community Hall may be coming back to life. If volunteers have anything to do with it, this will happen with a large amount of changes being done to the Hall.
This Hall was once a vital part of the Dance Township, and if things go as planned the Hall will be open year round.

Due to COVID, all orders will take place online this year, with delivery right to your door. Boxes of 22 cookies cost $5 each, with the local troupe requesting a minimum purchase of four boxes.

TORONTO - Ontario is reporting 790 new cases of COVID-19 today, and nine new deaths due to the virus.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says 321 of the new cases are in Toronto, 157 are in Peel Region, 76 are in York Region and 57 are in Ottawa.
The province says it has conducted 32,646 tests since the last daily report, with another 29,332 being processed.

According to the Northwestern Health Unit, babies who were born from March to July this year may have missed their routine newborn hearing screen. Due to COVID-19, infant hearing screens that normally occurred in hospitals before discharge were halted. Services resumed in July and any new babies will receive their infant hearing screen as usual.

Udderly amazing sale

Last weekend's cattle sale was a big one! The Rainy River Cattlemen's Association hosted the fall sale, which saw 1613 head of locally raised cattle auctioned for $1,727,509.79 at the Stratton Sales Barn. One more sale is scheduled, before local cattle farmers hunker down for winter.
